03 / Give your name a purpose
On your website. In your email. In the conversations that become your next opportunity. Start with the name, then build everything around it.
Give your shop, service or company an address customers can connect with Nigeria. Choose .com.ng for a familiar business identity, or .ng for a shorter signature.
Connect your name to your website and email with the right DNS records. Keep compatible hosting you already have, or start a new chapter with us.

Manage your domains ↗04 / Names that carry responsibility
Schools, tertiary institutions and government bodies have dedicated parts of the .ng family. We help you understand the application before you submit it.
For eligible accredited tertiary institutions. Prepare the relevant institutional approval and a genuine authorisation letter.
Application guide ↗For eligible schools and educational institutions. Supply the evidence requested for the school and its authorised applicant.
Discuss a school name ↗For authorised government bodies. Our dropdown also includes the 36 state zones and the FCT for state and local government applications.
Government guide ↗A restricted military namespace, not an ordinary retail domain. We will help an authorised applicant find the appropriate route.
Ask our team ↗Use your institution's genuine letterhead. A search result or a displayed rate does not replace eligibility checks. For state and local government names, select your state's zone and enter the authorised agency or council name. Open the government selector.

Tell us the name and what you need to do. Our team will help you find the next step.
Talk to our domain team ↗.ng is Nigeria's country-code domain. You can use a short address directly under .ng or a more specific extension such as .com.ng, .org.ng or .name.ng. Choose the one that fits how you want customers, readers or supporters to recognise you.
Our search menu groups general, educational and government choices. Institutional names need the appropriate approval, so a search result is only the start of that application.
A .ng name gives your Nigerian connection a clear place in your online identity. It can work for a local shop, an ambitious business, a personal portfolio or a community with something to share.
Look for a name that is easy to say, type and remember. A strong domain helps people recognise you, while the quality of your website and service gives them reasons to return.
General .ng names are available to a broad range of registrants, subject to registry rules, name availability and accurate contact information. Choose the name and extension first, then review the requirements shown during your order.
Educational, government and military namespaces are different. They require an eligible institution or authorised body. See our institutional guide before applying for one of those names.
Enter your preferred name, choose its extension and use Find my domain. Our domain checker handles the real availability search. Review the full spelling, selected term, contact information and order total before completing payment.
Once registration is confirmed, you can connect the domain to your website and email. For an institutional name, complete any document and authorisation checks requested for the application.
Use a clear name made from the characters accepted by the registry. Letters, numbers and hyphens cover ordinary names, but a hyphen cannot appear at the beginning or end of a label. Keep your choice easy to type and avoid confusing spellings.
Reserved names, premium classifications and naming rights can affect a registration. Check the exact address before using it on packaging, signs or a new project.
Use the price table to compare the current standard registration, transfer and renewal rates in your selected storefront currency. Each extension has its own pricing, and a registration promotion may differ from the renewal price.
The exact name search and checkout confirm the applicable offer. Premium names, the selected registration term and optional services can affect the final total.
You can begin connecting a domain once registration is confirmed. Set the correct nameservers or DNS records for the hosting and email services you intend to use, then test that the website and mailboxes work.
Payment confirmation, registry approval and DNS updates are separate steps. Institutional domains can need additional review, and existing DNS caches may take time to reflect a change.
The table separates the main domain transactions so you can compare them clearly. Review the order summary for your registration term, any applicable tax and optional services before paying.
A domain registration does not automatically include website hosting or mailboxes. We show those as separate services unless a particular offer explicitly bundles them. Ask us to explain anything unclear before completing your order.
A registrar transfer moves domain management between providers. It may require an authorisation code, an eligible domain status and approval from the authorised registrant. Use Transfer to us to begin the appropriate checker workflow.
A change of owner is a separate request. Contact us about changes to the registrant or an institutional domain so the right consent and verification process is followed.
Renew before the expiry date shown in your domain account. Keep your contact email current, review your renewal preferences and check that the related invoice is paid when required.
An expired domain can disrupt a website and email. Recovery options and charges depend on its current status, so contact us promptly rather than relying on a guaranteed grace period.
.ng is the shorter option, directly under Nigeria's country-code domain. .com.ng offers a familiar commercial identity for a business or shop. Compare the availability and ongoing cost of both before deciding.
You can register matching versions where available and connect them to one website. Each is still a separate domain with its own registration and renewal.
.edu.ng applications need the relevant institutional approval or accreditation evidence and genuine authorisation from an eligible tertiary institution. A school applying for .sch.ng should provide the evidence requested for its educational status.
Prepare documents on your institution's real letterhead where a letter is required. Our educational-domain guide explains how to prepare an application. Contact us before ordering if you are unsure which namespace fits.
Select the appropriate state or FCT government zone in the search dropdown, then enter the name of the authorised agency or council. The menu includes all 36 state zones and the FCT under State & local government.
For example, an authorised Lagos body uses the Lagos zone, .lg.gov.ng. Government names still require the correct institutional approval. These choices are kept out of the main price table so the page remains compact.
No. These names are for qualifying government or military bodies. An available name or a displayed fee does not replace the required authority and approval.
Read our .gov.ng application guide or contact our team to discuss the correct route. The military option in the search menu leads to application help rather than a general retail order.
No. Your domain is the address, while hosting stores and serves your website. Register the name first and connect it when you are ready, or use compatible hosting you already have.
Our Web Hosting and managed NabWP hosting offer different ways to build the website behind your name.
Yes. Connect it to a suitable email service to use addresses such as hello@yourname.ng. Create the mailboxes with your provider, then add that service's required DNS records at your active DNS provider.
Registering the domain alone does not create a mailbox. Explore our business email services when you are ready to put your name in every message.
No. Moving a domain between registrars does not copy website files, databases or mailbox contents. Arrange those migrations separately if you are also changing your hosting or email provider.
Keep the old services available until the replacement has been tested. Confirm the nameservers and DNS records you need before making the switch.
A standard extension price does not mean every name can be registered at that rate. The exact name may already be registered, reserved under registry rules or subject to premium pricing.
Search the full address to see the applicable result. We can help explain a response, but a domain is not secured just because it appeared available in a previous search.
A .ng name communicates your Nigerian connection, but it is not a promise of a particular search position. Choose a name that fits your audience and brand rather than relying on the extension alone.
Useful content, a well-built website and a good visitor experience remain important parts of growing an online business.
Use accurate registrant details, a reachable contact email and strong account security. Keep track of renewal dates and review access when staff or developers change.
Your business or institution should know who controls the account and how to recover access. For help with an existing domain, open a support ticket from the authorised client account.
