Removing a secondary domain changes its hosting configuration and may affect website and related account resources. It does not transfer or cancel the domain registration, so coordinate hosting retirement, DNS and registration decisions separately.

Prepare for the change
Create a verified backup of the domain’s website, databases and required email data. Record the domain’s settings and check shared databases, aliases, scheduled jobs and external integrations before deleting anything.
01 Remove a secondary domain from SiteWorx
- Open Hosting Features > Domains > Manage and identify the exact secondary domain.
- Review its associated website and mail usage. If the domain is moving, complete destination testing, perform the planned DNS cutover and verify website and mail delivery at the destination before removing the source. Keep the source available while cached DNS may still direct visitors or senders to it.
- Choose the domain’s trash or delete action. Read the confirmation and any listed data-removal effects carefully, then proceed only for the intended domain.
- Verify authoritative DNS reflects the approved destination or retirement state, then remove or replace obsolete integrations. Do not leave production traffic pointing to the hosting configuration you just removed.
- Keep the backup through the agreed recovery period. Clean up remaining resources only after confirming they are not used by another domain.
Confirm the expected result
The removed domain should disappear from the active management list. Test the main domain and remaining secondary sites, and verify the retired or migrated domain has the intended public result.
What if secondary-domain removal is blocked or the wrong domain is deleted?
If removal is blocked, investigate dependencies and privileges instead of editing the server’s configuration files manually. If an active domain was removed by mistake, contact support with its name and backup details promptly. Re-adding an empty domain alone does not reconstruct deleted content or mail.
