Create a separate database for an application that needs its own stored content and credentials. Adding a database in Plesk creates an empty database; it does not install the application, import an old website or automatically update application configuration.

Check access and requirements
Check the application database type and version requirements, subscription allowance and intended website. Available engines depend on the server and plan. Prepare a unique database-user password and keep it outside publicly accessible files.
01 Create a website database in Plesk
- Open Databases for the intended subscription and select Add Database.
- Enter a recognizable database name and choose the available engine or server when the form offers a choice. Associate the correct related website so the database can be identified later.
- Create a dedicated database user as part of the form or associate an appropriate existing user. Avoid giving the user access to every subscription database unless that broader scope is required.
- Set a unique strong password and review any access-control settings. A locally hosted application normally does not need unrestricted remote database access.
- Save the database. Record its exact name, server address, username and connection requirements for the application installer. Store the password in your approved secret storage.
How do I test the new Plesk database?
Confirm the database and associated user appear in Plesk. Use the available database-management tool or application installer to test access, then check a simple application read and write. A blank database should be expected before installation or import.
Resolve setup problems
If creation fails, inspect quota, naming restrictions and engine availability. If the application cannot connect, compare the exact hostname, port, database name and user permissions. Do not grant global database access or open the database to all internet addresses merely to bypass a connection error.
