Creating and administering a SiteWorx mailing list

control-panels, email

SiteWorx can manage Mailman lists only on supported installations where the provider enables that feature. InterWorx does not support Mailman on EL9, so confirm availability before planning a new list around it.

Check access and requirements

For a new deployment, choose a supported mailing-list service appropriate to the server and audience. On an eligible existing installation, decide list privacy, moderation, subscriber consent and ownership before creating it.

01 Create and administer a SiteWorx mailing list

  1. Open Hosting Features > Email > Mailing Lists where available and choose the add action.
  2. Enter a recognisable list name, a strong administrator password and the intended public or private access type. Do not use reserved or conflicting names.
  3. Create the list, then review archive visibility, advertisement and subscription approval settings rather than assuming privacy from the name alone.
  4. Use the pencil action to open Mailman administration. Configure posting moderation and delivery options for the intended discussion or announcement use.
  5. Subscribe a few controlled test addresses and verify confirmation, posting, moderation, unsubscribe and archive access before inviting the audience.

Confirm the expected result

Only authorised people should access private archives or post where moderation is required. Each test subscriber should receive the intended number of copies and be able to leave the list.

Resolve setup problems

If the menu is absent, it may be unsupported or disabled. Do not install an obsolete Mailman stack into a shared hosting account. For delivery failures, inspect bounce handling, authentication and list configuration with the provider.

Is an email group the same as a mailing list?

No. A group forwards to configured recipients. A mailing-list application adds subscription, moderation and archive controls, with availability and maintenance requirements of its own.
