Creating a certificate signing request in Plesk

security-ssl, plesk

For a certificate ordered outside an automated Plesk workflow, generate a CSR in the domain's certificate repository and retain its matching private key. Use this manual process when your Nabtech certificate order asks you to provide a request.

01 Create the request

  1. In Websites & Domains, select the correct domain and open SSL/TLS Certificates.
  2. Open Advanced Settings and choose Add SSL/TLS Certificate. Availability depends on the interface and permissions supplied for the subscription.
  3. Enter an identifying certificate name, the required hostname and accurate applicant details. For a wildcard order, use the intended wildcard name and verify the order's additional coverage separately.
  4. Select Request to create the CSR and private key.
  5. Open the new certificate entry and copy the complete CSR block into the order's request field. Do not copy the private-key block.
  6. Record this repository entry so the issued certificate can be uploaded against the same key. Review the requested names and validation details before submitting the order.

Common questions

What if Plesk's automatic purchase flow already created a request?

Follow that order's workflow rather than starting a second independent request. Confirm whether you are using a Nabtech service order or a separate Plesk storefront order.

Can I change the requested domain by renaming the entry?

The repository label only helps identify the entry. Correct an incorrect hostname through a new request or the issuer's supported reissue process.

Where will I install the issued files?

Use the corresponding certificate entry or the supported SSL It! upload flow. Then verify which certificate is assigned to the website. Keeping a certificate in the repository does not always make it the active one.
