Deploy tested WooCommerce changes while preserving the orders, accounts and stock updates created on the live store after staging was copied. A staging database is an older branch of the business history, not a safe replacement for current production data.

01 Classify the changes
List which changes are code files, theme settings, product data, content or database migrations. Code can often be deployed independently, while settings and builder designs may live in the database. Identify the exact storage and dependencies rather than assuming every design change is contained in the theme directory.
02 Choose the deployment method
- For plugin or theme updates, apply the exact tested package set to production and run its supported migrations.
- For content or configuration changes, use a supported targeted transfer or reproduce the reviewed settings deliberately.
- For a full database replacement, plan a genuine transaction freeze and final synchronisation, including external writers.
- For complex selective migration, involve a developer who understands the store's active order storage and extension tables.
03 Prepare the production window
- Record the last verified live order and current software state.
- Take a fresh coordinated files-and-database backup.
- Pause the necessary customer and integration writes if the deployment requires it.
- Deploy only the approved scope and complete required migrations.
- Check recent orders, stock and customer records before reopening affected workflows.
- Test checkout and monitor payments, scheduled actions and external integrations.
Can I exclude only the posts table to preserve orders?
That is not a general solution. HPOS uses dedicated order tables, and extensions can store related records elsewhere. Products, users, order items, stock and integration state have additional relationships. A simple table exclusion can preserve one record while leaving its dependencies inconsistent.
Does NabWP staging synchronisation merge transactions?
Do not treat database synchronisation as a business-data merge. Replacing the live database with staging can overwrite orders and registrations created since the staging copy was made. Review the selected files and database scope before approving a sync, and use a different deployment plan when live transactions must be retained.
What if rollback is needed after new sales?
Preserve the current database and payment references first. Restoring the pre-deployment backup can discard newly accepted business activity. Determine whether code can be reverted independently or whether the vendor requires a matching database state, then reconcile the new records through a reviewed recovery process.
04 Verify and document
Compare known order references before and after deployment, check totals and fulfilment status, and confirm the first new order succeeds. Keep the change record and test evidence so support can distinguish a deployment problem from an unrelated gateway or scheduled-job failure. Remove temporary maintenance controls only after the critical checks pass.
